For some families around the world, breakfast is a time where everyone gathers together at the table to eat a meal, greet each other and say goodbye before everyone goes off and starts their day. For other families, they are not so fortunate. One in four kids live in homes where food isn’t even available to eat on some days.
Kellogg’s, who are the producers of many popular breakfast foods, wants to do something about that alarming fact. They have created a new campaign, called Share Your Breakfast, which will run until July 31, 2011.
By simply sharing your breakfast with Kellogg’s, they will do their part to donate a breakfast to a child who needs one. They have a goal to deliver one million meals before the start of the 2011-2012 school years. Participants who want to “share” their meals can do so by uploading pictures, sending in text messages or just writing a description of their breakfast on the website.
With the help of Action for Healthy Kids, a nonprofit organization focusing on childhood obesity and undernourishment, Kellogg’s will donate a real breakfast to a school to give to the students. You can submit as many entries as you want, helping them reach their goal even sooner! The site has all the pictures submitted so far. You can take a look at all the different types of meals that are being eaten for breakfast all over.
It is great to see a company doing something to help children who are in need. With little effort from participants, it is easier than ever to get involved and make a change.
