Bullying, no matter what shape or form it may come in, can be a devastating and horrible event. It can affect the lives of so many people with a simple word, name or harassing behaviors.
Bullying can happen to anyone, at any time. To prove this, teen sensation Justin Bieber has joined forces with MTV and Facebook to take a stand against this matter.
A campaign called Draw Your Line, MTV and Justin have asked people around the world to post their line of action. With a virtual map and support forum, they plan to track efforts to stop digital abuse. They even made a contest out of it, offering prizes for posted answers.
There are around 800,000 people that have already taken a part in this. Draw Your Line is a part of MTV’s “A Thin Line” campaign, which helps America’s youth recognize what digital abuse is, and also what to do to prevent it. Facebook has done its part in collaborating with its Safety Center.
Since Justin Bieber is such a recognized face among younger crowds, I think it will be a good way to introduce this topic to kids and have them learn about and participate in acts against cyberbullying. Because of his popularity, Justin Bieber has been the target of cyberbullying. He stands up to this issue by partaking in this campaign. He also proves that words and opinions of others that are meant to hurt you cannot stand in the way of your dreams and goals in life.
