Gaga for Librarians – Funny Video for Educators
Librarians are usually the people we go to when we need help finding books, journals, research and other important elements in the library. The students and faculty from the University of Washington’s Information School proved that they are on top of their game when it comes to helping people find the information they need.
In this video, the students and staff perform their very own version of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”, which they have renamed “Catalog”. With funny dancing and lyrics, this video offers a little comedic relief, but it also proves how librarians are using technology and resources to help offer information for learning opportunities.
These “Librarians of the Future” explain how painful it can sometimes be when you try using basic search engines to find what you need. By using their information catalogs and databases, you will open yourself up to more options and resources that will help you learn. By defining your problem, finding your sources and picking out important information, you will be able to successfully research and learn about your topic.
I think this video has more than one important factor in it. For one, it is using video and technology to spread an important message. It is also advertising the use of technology, information databases and other tools that people may not think of when typically researching a topic. It also shows the integration of technology into schools and education. And if you are a big Lady Gaga fan like I am, you will appreciate the tune of the song!
